Kerala Chicken

 
Recipe: Datin Meena Nathan, thank you, simple and delicious
Ingredients:
1.5kg chicken
4 tbsp oil
1 large onion, sliced
4 sprigs curry leaves
1 tsp mustard seeds
4cm cinnamon stick
6 cloves
1 tsp pepper powder (i used chili powder)
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3 potatoes, skinned and halved
2 tsp ginger paste
Salt to taste
750ml water
375ml thick coconut milk

(My note: i combined all the powder ingredients together and add a little water)

Method:
Clean chicken an cut into 12 pieces.  Heat oil in large non-stick pan over a medium flame.
Saute onion, curry leaves, mustard seeds, cinnamon stick and cloves for 5 minutes till aromatic.
Put in chicken and mix well.  Add pepper, coriander powder, turmeric, potatoes, ginger paste, salt and water. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes till chicken and potatoes are cooked.
Tip in coconut milk and turn off the fire immediately after a boil.
